About The Artist
Alyssa Denis is a graduate of Stony Brook University with a BA in the Arts. She graduated as a Studio Art major, Digital Art minor with a concentration in drawing, painting and printmaking. She currently lives and works in New York.
Her work is heavily influenced by her beloved pets, consisting of bearded dragons, snakes, geckos, turtles, fish, birds, dogs, and cats. Another part of her is also heavily influenced by fantasy worlds and creatures. Alyssa has always been an avid reader and show binge watcher; submerging herself into a world full of magic and mystery has always been more appealing than reality. She works in a variety of mediums and is always trying new ones to incorporate into her works. As the artist explains the duality of her work she states, “I consider myself a fine artist by day and a fan artist by night.”
Throughout Alyssa’s art career, she has been in multiple exhibitions and has received numerous awards for her artwork. Starting as far back as 2014 in middle school with the Academic Honorable Mention in Art. This led into high school when she received the Art League of Long Island Advanced Placement Exhibition Award of Excellence in 2018. Also in 2018, she received the Michael S. Curtin Citizenship Award based upon contributions her High School community, which included a painted wall mural. In her freshman year of college at Stony Brook University, Alyssa was chosen to participate in the 2019 URECA Gallery Competition. Some of her most recent works have been shown at the Staller Center for the Arts in the student-run 2020 exhibition Simulacrum and her 2022 solo exhibition Beneath the Surface, in which she received an award of honor. In addition to this, Alyssa’s art was chosen to be included in the 2022-2023 Stony Brook University President’s Art Exhibition on display at the Sunwood Estate. Also in 2022, at the Paul W. Zuccarie Gallery’s Senior Show Alyssa won both the President’s Purchase Award and Chair’s Award in Art.

Currently, Alyssa is working as a custom frame designer and an independent artist. She sells merchandise through her shop, runs a Patreon page for exclusive content, does freelance character illustration and design, and illustrates book covers and scenes from books.
